How do you decorate your kitchen?... A Potty Chart!

Well our girl is a genius! No, really :) Okay, kidding aside, she is excelling at the different areas in her school work. Not sure if you remember but she had to be put into a different class due to her birthday and the cutoff date at her school. Well, she's accomplished everything this class has for goals and moved on to the sheets/goals for the next class up and has been marking those off. Soon she'll be done with those and her teacher said "well, we'll find more sheets!" Well, since she can't exactly move "up" in the school she's at we want her to be in the true "grade" she should be in at a different school if at all possible. So... we've been looking into others. That's what's been going on here!

What's all this have to do with the title of this blog you might ask? Well, I'm getting to that. The front runner right now has the requirement that she must be potty trained in order to enter the class in August, not sure on the other school (we'll be visiting there soon). So, we're starting fresh and with new gusto on the potty training front! She was doing really well just before Christmas (as were many of her classmates we heard). But, recently we had a set back... as is normal in the potty world.

So, last night Sashie and I jointly created a "Big Girl Sasha's Potty Stickers" chart (guess who came up with the name?). She gets a sticker for teetee, another if the pull up is dry, and a special smiley sticker for #2! I know, I lead an exciting life :) And, then hung it up in the kitchen so she always sees it. We had some success already with her telling us this morning that she had to go and with a dry pull up!

Please wish us luck! This is just encouragement of course, not real "forcing" her to go (so please don't take it like that). We have plenty of time and let's remember she was the one who started us on this path back in August. So, really our goal would be exclusively undies in the daytime (maybe less!) within a year of starting potty training. Go Sashie!

"I'm just thinking"

So this morning I was on drop off duty and as we made our way to school, in between the listening to the radio and looking for balloons on the cars at the dealerships, Miss Sasha and I had one of our conversations that I've grown so fond. Here's a snippet:

Sasha: Mommy, whatcha doing?

Me: Driving. What are you doing?

Sasha: I'm just thinking.

Me: What are you thinking about?

Sasha: Jesus

Me: (Totally in awe and loving this) That's good. What about Jesus?

Sasha: Jesus loves me.

Me: Yes, he does. That's really good to think about.

*A little time goes by*

Sasha: Mommy... I'm done thinking.

I have a dream...

A few things before I start this post:

1) Sorry it's been a while! With the holidays and whatnot, yeah, well, it's been a while.

2) With the new year, I'll try harder. (Seems like I've said that before, right?) Well, as a friend recently mentioned on her blog, I don't exactly do this for myself. Heck, I've realized that, while it is nice that I do this for those far away, I'm really doing it as a reminder of things going on right now for Sasha. It's the new age Baby Book of our time. Yes, I do have a baby book for her. Is it up to date? NO! But, is this blog? Definitely more so than that book! So, for her sake, and mine as she gets older, I'm going to try and update once a week (even if it's just a little something).

On to this post... Miss Sasha received her second homework assignment. Really, why do I kid, it was homework for us (Mama and Daddy). We had to think of our hopes and dreams for her as she got older. It was to coincide with MLK day. So, without further ado, here's "her" homework:

We want you to be educated and excel in the areas that make you happiest. Our wish is for you to continue your friendly and open minded ways with everyone you meet. We love you princess and want all these and any dreams you ever have to come true.
